Czech People
As (probably) any foreigner in Czech Republic, I was concerned about Czech's attitude to us. I tried to communicate with only people I know, or people other people I know, know. :) After several weeks of that I ended up seeing the same faces every day, everywhere. Not good. Healthy communication is meeting new people, isn't it?
Later I discovered that Czech and Slovak people are very open, willing to know everyone interested in them (or their country, culture, traditions, etc.). This discovery was a huge step in my social integration. How do I speak to people whose language I don't know you might ask me? That's very simple: Czech people, as do I, like to spend time in pubs, drinking delicious Czech beer. After 3-4 glasses of those, you start to understand each other without saying a word. :)
A very common "tradition" here, is not responding to phone calls the other day (or ever after), so don't be surprised. From about 50 people I met, I saw about 5 more than once. Enjoy the moment! :)
The situation with ladies is "almost" the same. I mean that you can chat with them, you can spend a night with them (in a pub, he he - I'm married! ;), and never see her again because she wouldn't answer the phone.
